Pork Chopped!

A 4-minute stop-motion animate film about two pigs sharing a small pig pen and the tensions of close relationships that make you lose sight of what matters. And, as a pig, how dangerously delicious you are.

I made the pig puppets during lunch breaks with help from a friend, Scott Tom. They’re ball-and-socket with some wire armature and covered in fabric. I shot in a small room, so sets were compact, about 5–6 feet. As a long-time textile artist, I used fabric scraps, fur, and paper for a handmade look. Gavin Brown helped with lighting, camera framing and video blocking, as well as production; Dan Silver composed the music and did foley (not audible in these clips yet). I animated all the characters and received a RACC grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council.

(The tree shadow was taken out of the final version, which is why the tree disappears at the end of the clip.)
